Omega Destruction
Date of Scene: 19 June 2016
Location: Thymesis Mining Facility
Synopsis: The Decepticons destroy one of the restored Omega Destructors that Phantom discovered earlier. It wasn't easy, though.
Cast of Characters: Blast Off, Phantom, Prowl, 21, 36, Sunstorm

Phantom has posed:
Word has spread among the Decepticons since Phantom's recent discovery of the Omega Destructor at Thymesis, and consequently, a team has been assembled to visit Luna 2 and investigate what the Autobots have been planning.

Currently, the foursome have arrived on the moon and are not far from the facility, with Phantom leading them towards where he last recalls having seen the mechanoids of mass destruction. As they venture closer, the foreigner becomes more apprehensive, wondering if Ricochet is now on the lookout for him since his last visit to the munitions company's campus did not end well for the weapons dealer.

Starscream (36) has posed:
Starscream has agreed to join Phantom on this expedition to Luna 2 to further investigate the Omega Destructor. He has his doubts as to the authenticity of all this since it came from Phantom but it doesn't hurt to look. OR at least thats what the Air Commander is hoping at any rate. He notices Phantom's demeaner change a bit and grow apprehensive. Slowly he steps up alongside Phantom and smirks, "Not having second thoughts are we?"

Swindle (21) has posed:
Swindle is part of the team, and while he's in it for the possibility of salvaging saleable devices, he is also concerned about what the Autobots are planning to do. "Do you think the Autobots are planning to wipe us out, or something?" he asks Starscream, "I thought massive doomsday weapons were OUR thing."

Sunstorm has posed:
"What do you THINK, peasant??" Sunstorm snarks at Swindle's question. "No, of course they're not making this for us. No, they mean perfectly WELL." There's no particular reason why Sunstorm has decided to be a jerk, but his moods seem to cycle more frequently than the tidal forces within the seas.

Prowl has posed:
Speaking of Ricochet, the mech can be seen just now entering the facility through the front gate. If anyone is running aerial recon, it would appear the place is buzzing with activity. One of the massive machines is being hauled out of the hangar atop a large flatbed transport. Whether it's for transport or a field test or both is yet to be determined.

It doesn't look quite as robust as they once did during Zeta Prime's rule, but still threatening, and the fact that they already have one up and running isn't a comforting thought...

Phantom has posed:
Phantom frowns at Starscream and gives the other three a pointed look. He shakes his helm and puts finger to his mouth. "No," he says quietly, "Shh. I am being careful, not scared. They will find us!" He takes cover behind some old storage structures, peering at the Destructor being hauled out of the facility.

Sunstorm has posed:
Sunstorm narrows his optics. When the group had made their initial approach, he had run recon for a closer observation. Now at the rendezvous point, he ruminates on what he's seen. "Well, it is definitely in use. Something is being produced as we speak. And whatever it is must nearly be finished, as logistics has already readied a transport for...whatever is inside," he mentions.

Starscream (36) has posed:
Starscream turns toward Swindle to reply when Sunstorm does it for him. "What he said." he says and then looks at Phantom. "Scared, careful --it takes fear to make you careful --" he pauses long enough to take cover along with Phantom and looks at the Destructor being taken out of the facility. "Not as impressive as it used to be. Pity this Prime seems to be scrounging through scraps to find a way to defeat us." he shoots a look at Swindle. "Before this is over get anything you can off that thing -- and bring what you get to me."

Swindle (21) has posed:
"Gotcha," Swindle says, "I can strip everything and pick it clean in no time." He rubs his hands gleefully, shanix signs in his optics. "Prime scrounging through scraps? Mech, he didn't even try to get anything through me. If he wanted shoddy materials at least I coulda made some money out of it."

Sunstorm has posed:
Sunstorm gives a withering look to Swindle. "Should you require it -- and you probably WILL -- I can provide a sufficient diversion."

Prowl has posed:
The clamps are now retracting, and the prototype is in the process of being activated, now. For having been dug out of the ruins of Nyon, it's actually quite impressive. Or should that be 'terrifying'. If anyone didn't know any better, they might have thought it was brand new. Lights start blinking on up and down its frame as a target is being erected on the far side of the testing area. If the Decepticons plan to attack, now would be a good time...before the thing gets fully up. If they can dive down fast enough, they may be able to get some sizeable hits before the opposition even has a chance to defend itself.

Sunstorm has posed:
Sunstorm looks to Starscream, looking ready to transform and blaze away toward the site to create a diversion immediately on the Air Commander's word...but not an astrosecond before.

Starscream (36) has posed:
Starscream watches this thing fire up and makes a sudden decision. He looks at Sunstorm and Phantom. "Take it out --and dumb your foul mood on the blasphemor while youre at it, Sunstorm."

Phantom has posed:
Phantom shushes the others again, looking mildly annoyed. He gives Starscream an incredulous look, thinking it takes a great deal of stupidity to have no fear or self control. He doesn't comment, though. He ventures nearer to the Destructor, while still taking care to stay out of sight for the time being. Frowning, he takes out his rifle, readying himself before he fires.

Swindle (21) has posed:
Swindle nods at Sunstorm, "Oh yeah, I'll probably need it all right." He gets ready to fire as well, because he can probably get a few shots in before he dives in to strip the device bare like 60s teen car strippers.

Prowl has posed:
The massive prototype is now beginning to move off of the transport, its weapons humming to life. Workers are starting to move away from it, eager to steer clear of the weapon of mass destruction while it tests out its firepower.

The time to strike is now...

Sunstorm has posed:
Sunstorm takes off, his bright orange form reflecting brightly as he soars in a fiery arc toward the prototype staging area. When he's within targetting range, he begins firing on the personnel, spraying them with laser-fire in a murderous diversion.

Blast Off has posed:
Blast Off is here! The standoffish shuttle has been soaring on standby, waiting for orders. His own orbital laser is already powered up and ready, systems locked on the prototype. He radios Starscream, << I have it in my sights, shall I fire? >>

Starscream (36) has posed:
Starscream watches everyone leave to do as he commanded and then stands from his cover, fires at the Omega and then ducks back down <<No! Under no circumstances let your presence be known. You are our escape, Blast Off. Standby for that and possibly a salvage haul.>> he stands back up and fires again at the Omega then does a wide arc of fire as cover to help the Seekers and Swindle do as he commanded.

Phantom has posed:
Phantom transforms, then flies through some of the surrounding structures and positions himself behind the Destructor. He notices Blast Off has arrived and sighs, muttering to himself. Then he opens fire on the restored weapon of mass destruction.

Swindle (21) has posed:
Swindle takes a few shots in preperation for salvage. He looks up at Blast Off and radios. << If things get sticky down here, I'm going to need you to pull me out, fast. >>

Blast Off has posed:
Blast Off can't quite contain the annoyance in his sigh, << Very well, Starscream. Falling back. >> He could wipe that thing out in one shot, just watch him!!! The Combaticon always enjoys showing off his long distance shooting skills. But fine, whatever. Let the others nibble at the thing. The shuttle's aelirons shift and he pulls up a little higher, keeping distance from the scene far below. Responding to his teammate, he replies, << Understood. You are fortunate. With ME here the job will get done. A shame they don't let me simply take the shot and be done with it. I suppose they need to feel useful, though. Ah well. >> With a haughty little sniff over the airwaves, he maintains course.

Starscream (36) has posed:
<<You let me be the judge of sticky, Swindle.>> Starscream radios arrogantly as he prepares to take another shot at the Omega. It is then he over hears Blast Offs comment on radio. <<Your usefullness is in getting us and what we can get out of here, understood?>> Not waiting for a reply he stands from his cover, takes aim and fires atain at the Omega.

Starscream (36) has posed:
Starscream just made this whole 'mission' for keeps on the Omega.

Prowl has posed:
Sunstorm is the first to go charging in with his blazing form, spraying the area with a strafing run. Alarms immediately begin screeching and defenses come to life as the workers scramble for cover, letting the defenses--and the newly reconstructed Destructor--deal with the intruders.

Maurader turrets fly from their stations, targeting Sunstorm first. Luckily for the Decepticons, the war machine had still been in its boot cycle when they first appeared, and it took several breems before it was finally in a position to retaliate, especially with that grenade from Swindle. Consequentially, Starscream is able to knock a sizable chunk out of the outer armor plating on its back with his null ray, the piece crashing to the ground.

But this was not to last for long. Finally, the massive automaton stands to its full height, scanning the area. "HOSTILES DETECTED. TARGETS ACQUIRED. OBJECTIVE: ELIMINATE." Assessing the damage, it determines that Starscream is the greatest threat, and turns its weapon toward him first.

Starscream (36) has posed:
Starscream stands there as the Omega says it will terminate him and then watches the shot go wild. The look on his face is priceless as he says, "I can wait while you get in a few practice rounds." then he gets shot at better this time and it still misses. A wing twiches and he opens his comm <<Make this fast mechs Sooner or later this Destructor's going to hit me but you still have time.>> he takes aim again and fires.

Sunstorm has posed:
Sunstorm arcs back around, taking full stock of the position of the Omega Destructor and the potential threat to Starscream. He's not too worried about Starscream's ability to deal with the destructor himself, though. He's just that good. In the meantime, he drops a flurry of bombs on the defensive array. "<< Death to the Autobot-sympathizing peasants!! There will be no salvation for you!! >>" he shrieks.

Blast Off has posed:
The Combaticon shuttle soars high above all the commotion below. Blast Off still grumbles to himself a little as Starscream's retort comes over the radio waves. He bites down on his first, snarky reaction, taking a moment to remember just how amazing and sophisticated he is before replying, << ...Understood. Well, I suppose I can't blame you for counting on my skill and reliability for such an important mission, after all... >> He keeps scanners on alert and weapon systems on standby, but does not fire.

Phantom has posed:
As soon as Phantom has begun opening fire on the Omega Destructor, the factility's turrets retaliate and open fire on the foreigner, catching him off guard. He grunts, and swerves left, attempting to dodge the shots being fired. He accelerates, releasing a sonic boom as he flies out from behind the Destructor.

Swindle (21) has posed:
Swindle acks as he's hit by a shot from the Omega. "Ack! Mech down! Mech down!" he says as he flails.

Prowl has posed:
The Destructor's initial shot...backfires. Probably had something to do with its unfinished nature, Swindle's grenade, and the other incoming coming from the other Decepticons. Instead of striking Starscream, the weapon overheats, causing massive damage to the gargantuan drone's arm. However, being an automaton, it feels no pain and therefore the injury barely gives it pause. Phantom's sonic attack causes some minor cracks, but otherwise doesn't do much damage. Lowering the damaged arm, missile launchers instead rise out of its shoulders, targeting each hostile entity and locking on to their signatures before firing the projectiles.

Meanwhile, Someone familiar to the foreign seeker approaches. "Hah, I remember you." he laughs, raising his weapons to fire on Phantom. "You think you can stop us? Even if you destroy the first prototype, there are 3 more, remember?"

Phantom has posed:
Phantom does a 180, to face Ricochet. "I will kill you," he growls, and his laser rifle comes out, aiming point blank at the other. He ascends, peppering Richochet with a strafing run.

Then, he suddenly phases out, entering a nearby structure and disappearing from sight. Huh, where'd he go..?

Starscream (36) has posed:
Starscream finds himself slammed back a few yards onto his back from a thermo rocket and lays there for a moment as damage readings flood into his internal HUD. "Third time's the charm." he says at the Destructor as he scrambles a bit stiffly to his feet. He notices Swindlw down and sees Sunstorm not looking so hot. He hits his comm <<Blst Off, get ready to shoot this thing, take it and us -->> he stops in mid sentance as he sees Ricochet and Phantom than then Phantom vanishing. He vents some air from his chest fans and continues, << -- sans Phantom. He can fend for himself.>> he raises an arm cannon and gives some cover fire to the mechs still engaged with the Destructor

Sunstorm has posed:
Sunstorm takes a rough hit from the Omega Destructor, and he shudders in pain as he hits his thrusters and accelerates past the defenses to have another run. "<< Do not fire upon my Commander, you blasphemous fiend!! >>" he bellows angrily. "<< Or face our full fury!! >>"

Blast Off has posed:
Blast Off *thought* he was out of range. Apparently not. The prototype's missile reach takes him by surprise and though the Combaticon tries to evade the hit there's so much coming at him he can't quite do it. GAHHHHHHHH! The shots tear through his fuselage, rocking the relatively delicate shuttle and tearing his wings. He's still capable of flight, but he's highly damaged now and his manueverability is greatly reduced.

Struggling to remain on course, the shuttle recieves that transmission from starscream. Oh NOW he wants him to shoot! Ugh. Revving up his thrusters in a huff, he uses the sheer power of being annoyed to bolster his flagging enthusiasm. << ... NOW you want my shooting skills! >> Ok, he couldn't resist at least a little snark. Thrusters engage and he rockets towards the scene and the other Decepticons, a little wobbly but giving it his all. Pride demands. << Then get ready to go. I'm at 50% capacity, I don't have time to dawdle. Swindle, are you prepared? >> His cargo bay door is already opening as he zooms forward, finally getting to launch his orbital X-ray laser straight at the prototype. << NOW you will witness the might of a Combaticon warrior! >>

Swindle (21) has posed:
Swindle is indeed ready! With the inviting open cargo bay door appearing, Swindle prepares to jump into Blast Off's cargo hold! Fortunately as he gets up he gathers a few bits and pieces here and there, stuffing them quickly into subspace. << Ready when you are! >> he radios to his combatibro.

Prowl has posed:
Ricochet is blasted backward by Phantom's guns, but once he manages to get his bearings again, Phantom has disappeared. "Frag it. Come out and fight you coward! So much for killing me, eh?!" he shouts, searching for the evasive seeker.

Meanwhile, the Omega Destructor isn't looking so good any more. The damage from the backfired cannon had done a good number on it, and now with all the additional attacks on top of that has it starting to slow down significantly. However it is programmed to continue until a shutdown becomes unavoidable. It staggers backward, especially from Blast Off's orbital laser, but even as it stumbles, it picks up the piece of armor that had fallen off earlier and swipes at the air in the direction of Blast Off and Sunstorm. However it still doesn't manage to regain its balance, falling down toward the ground and knocking down parts of the factory with it. Those downstairs better move quickly!

Starscream (36) has posed:
Starscream is getting bored with this. He hates to do it but he lifts his arm cannon again, mentally cycles it to a certain setting and prepares to fire. <<When I hit it, grab it, Blast Off and the order for Withdrawel is given. Did you hear that, Sunstorm? Withdraw into Blast OFf. Everyone!>> and with that he fires then heads toward the shuttle.

Sunstorm has posed:
Sunstorm maneuvers, banks, then arcs back around once more in order to avoid getting his damaged wings crushed by the destructor. He's a little bit distracted over Phantom and the other Seeker's altercation with someone at the site, but he refocuses his energies into totalling the Omega once and for all. Blast Off's brilliant shot seems to have damaged the Destructor extensively, so perhaps one lucky shot can put the behemoth out of commission.

Prowl has posed:
Meanwhile, seeing that the new prototype is now in danger of being taken out of commission, one of Ricochet's associates takes aim from a tower that is still intact, attempting to knock Starscream out. Blast Off's not the only sniper out there, after all!

Phantom has posed:
Phantom reappears suddenly, behind Richochet this time. Whether the weapons dealer is aware of him or not remains a mystery for the time being, but the foreigner opens fire on him, striking with full force. "You are lucky," he says, "your bad machine died before I could kill you. For me, for now, that is good enough." He flies over Richochet, peppering him with laser fire from above.

Blast Off has posed:
Welp. So much for impressing everyone as the "mighty Combaticon warrior" gets slammed yet again with another attack, and it nearly does as much damage. Smoke and frying circuitry start billowing out from the now extremely injured shuttle. << Frag. I- *zkt* This better be fast! >> Blast Off is barely staying aloft at this point ...and the fact that Sunstorm of all mechs just finally knocked this thing out doesn't help his mood any. But for now, it's all he can do to follow orders- and stay alive. He lands with a heavy thud, opening his cargo bay for Swindle, then starts firing up engines again, smoke still billowing out of him, and prepares to try hooking into the prototype. << Connect that for me... >> he manages to emit through his radio to Swindle.

Swindle (21) has posed:
Swindle LEAPS and lands in Blast Off's cargo hold! He manages to cling to a few more salvage scraps he managed to pick up. "GO GO GO GO GO GO GO!" he exclaims, pounding his fist on the floor of the cargo hold impatiently.

Prowl has posed:
Finally, the massive war machine smashes to the ground, crushing parts of buildings as it does. Debris flies, and the Destructor shuts down from all the damage to its vital systems.

"Slag it!" Ricochet curses. "Barricade the hangar, now!" He shouts, and his lackeys rush to obey his command, moving to block the Decepticons' access to the other prototypes. What's worse, Phantom has a surprise for him, and he gets shot in the back. He stumbles a bit and ducks behind a broken wall. "There you are! Think you're safe up there? You're wrong!" He transforms into his own flight form and gets on the seeker's tail, firing a pair of missiles in Phantom's direction.

Sunstorm has posed:
Once the Destructor is down, the creamsickle Seeker joins his comrades in departing the facility. "<< Thank you for your wisdom and your power, >>" Sunstorm begins talking to no one in particular, "<< I obey your will, and through that comes victory! >>"

Phantom has posed:
"This is enough," Phantom grumbles quietly, grunting when Ricochet's missile's strike him, nearly knocking him out of the sky. "The big robot is dead," he announces. "Until next time. I will kill you then." He then does a 180, phasing out and leaving the facility.

Blast Off has posed:
Blast Off is in seriously bad shape. Smoke trails from his fuselage, there's dents and even holes across his hull, one wing is bent at a weird angle. But the Combaticon also has an abundance of something else- pride. Perhaps it is this that gives him the strength, once Swindle is onboard and hooked him up, to fire up his thrusters and try with his last ounce of strength to rocvket away- with prototype in tow. And somehow... SOMEHOW it succeeds. The shuttle creaks and groans as he rockets upward, but after a delay when he flails about like a bird tied to a string trying to break free- he does break free. Soaring upwards, he manages to lift the huge object after a bumpy start.

Swindle (21) has posed:
Swindle sighs in relief as Blast Off takes off. He lifts his face off the floor of the cargo hold. "We still being shot at?"

Prowl has posed:
Ricochet scoffs as Phantom turns and runs. "Ha, coward." And then he sees Blast Off taking off with the downed automaton. "Glitcheads!" He laughs. "You didn't think about the fact that we probably rigged those things in case they fell into the wrong hands, did you? After all, we made them. Heh, guess not!"

Whether any of them heard that or not, true to the mech's word and almost right on cue following Swindle's question, a red warning light flicks on somewhere inside of the damaged prototype and begins flashing--slowly at first, and then faster and faster. It's never a good sign, really. Hopefully those clamps Blast Off is using aren't locked in too hard...

Blast Off has posed:
Blast Off replies to Swindle, << Not currently, but that could change. I am marking a course back to base, and I- >> then he stops as a warning starts flashing. Well, smelt it all. Or smelt them, maybe. << Swindle.... you may need to disconnect those cables... >> He runs scans, trying to determine if the thing's systems are charging up for an explosion or something.

Swindle (21) has posed:
Swindle acks. He hates to lose such valuable machinery, but if it dooms them on the way home, they'll have to cut it lose. "Hate to do it, but gotta do what we gotta do."

Prowl has posed:
There is not much time for Swindle to act, but since he's already on board, he manages to cut the cables just in time. The damaged war machine falls from its tether, the light still flashing. It explodes in midair, debris and hot gases flying in every direction. Fortunately, Swindle had cut them free quickly enough to avoid placing the two Combaticons and whoever else may be aboard the shuttle at essentially ground zero, though not quite enough to be completely clear of it. Though perhaps if Blast Off really guns it...

Starscream (36) has posed:
Starscream made it to Blast Off just before he passes out from energon depletion. His damage was fair but not too bad and sad for him but hes offline through all that happens next. The next thing the Air Commander knows is he can feel wind rushing over his body very fast accompanied by a weightless feeling. Still half offline his optics light up a bit to see sky then ground then sky then ground. "Stop... being an afthat.. blast off." he mumbles and goes offline again. Lucky for him if no one pulls a miracleous mid air rescue on him, he at least wont be online when he crashes into the ground.

Sunstorm has posed:
Perhaps it's fortunate for Sunstorm that he retreated quickly, under the assumption that Blast Off would be able to load everyone on board and then tow away the Destructor. But then once he gets several kliks away, it begins to dawn on him that no one else is retreating along WITH him.

Where did everyone go??

He wide-arcs back around, cautiously returning.

Blast Off has posed:
Blast Off is planning on gunning it, yes. The Combaticon's thrusters are already firing and he pushes himself to try to get the slag out of there, something his systems have been screaming at him to do. He had a mission though, and he's been trying to follow it. Turns out- he's not going to succeed. The already badly damaged Combaticon is struck with more explosive damage, and with hardly any armor left and a weakness to explosive attacks- he doesn't stand a chance. The shuttle only has time to send out a quick distress signal before he crashes to the ground, unconscious. Sorry Starscream. And sorry Sunstorm, this probably cuts Blast Off's chances for divinity, doesn't it?

Sunstorm has posed:
Once he returns to the scene and sees the disastrous mess his comrades are in, Sunstorm puts in a call back to base. "I require a retrieval squadron at the following coordinates...medevac and repair units are desperately needed. This is an emergency!"

In all the ensuing destruction, Sunstorm can really only do one thing by himself, and that's evacuate the Air Commander. He drops to the ground, transforms to root mode, then picks Starscream up and flies away with him -- leaving the others to be evacuated by the emergency team.
