Cast of Characters: Swivel, Hyperdrive

Swivel has posed:
The door to Swivel's dorm room opens and closing with a soft hiss, admitting the owner's small, trembling form. Swivel had a quick check up at the repair bay, and for her own reasons, insisted on having someone else walk her to and from it rather than drag Hyperdrive along. The two of them might as well be joined at the hip, and there were times that, despite the two of them getting along, Swivel felt a little space was beneficial if they wanted to continue to get along. Now that Swivel had gone and come back, she barely gets inside before she flops against a narrow space between the door and the desk and slowly slips down to the ground, the studs on her tires leaving marks on the wall. Swivel covers her face, sobbing quietly into her hands.

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive has had his own demons to contend with. Swivel of course has her own classes and own track she's in with the cadets. Hyperdrive is in his. Recently he's been coming back from his own trips scuffed up pretty bad or with fresh repairs. His anger while never directed at Swivel or usually curbed greatly while in her presense has meant a bit more fighting and use of the training simulators at higher than optimal for his size settings. Having done this in the last day, he's still waiting for some of his welds and repairs to set and silently was probably thankful not to have to move after the last bout. But that relief is quickly dashed when Swivel comes in so upset. He about near hangs himself trying to get off the topbunk to reach her side and at one point, was hanging while he unhooked his foot. Kneeling besides her, he looks her up and down for damage. "W-what's wrong?"

Swivel has posed:
Swivel shakes her head vehemently when Hyperdrive asks what's wrong. She keeps her face covered for a moment, then slowly lowers them, peering over at Hyperdrive. She opens her mouth a few times as if to try and explain, but her chin quivers so bad she can barely make any sensical words. So she stops trying and just bring up her knees and covers her face once more. A cursory, and even a more thorough look at her shows absolutely no damage done to her. NOt even light scuffing on her paint. Physically, she appears fine.

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive has no trouble reaching over to try and hug Swivel and hold her while she deals with her emotions. He's had his own problems and she's been there for him. It's only right that he does the same. He leans his head against one of those scary tires, hoping that be enough to get her past whatever has her so upset. There is a little relief to his expression that at least it doesn't seem like anyone has been picking on her physically. He really doesn't want to get written up again for going after someone that he perceived hurt Swivel. THough that bot DID apologize for bumping into her in the hall afterwards.

Swivel has posed:
Swivel reaches one arm up and loops it around Hyperdrive when he hugs her, clinging onto him. Trembling. It is a reverse from the way things had been lately. It takes Swivel a while before she talks.
"Sorry fer worryin' you. I'll be okay," Swivel says in a small, squeaky voice. She clears her vents and then repeats in a lower, more normal sounding voice. "I'll be okay."

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive tilts his head, "What happened?" And who does he need to go after? WHich would probably be more impressive if Hyperdrive himself wasn't as diminuative as Swivel. "I-is there anythin I can do ta help?" Yep he was there for her but she had been there for him when he was at his worse. He wasn't back to his old self but he was slowly getting better.

Swivel has posed:
"Ya dun need ta go after anyone." Swivel works up a half smile before it drops. "I'm jus'.... I'm jus' upset that I lost my cool 'n lashed out at 'Ot Rod. 'E was jus' tryna show 'is concern 'n I wasn't bein' too kind." Swivel sighs and slowly lowers her knees, sitting against the wall with her legs straight out in front of her. "Blurr was there 'n I jus dinna wanna talk about stuff with so many people around... and then I yelled at Blurr too. In a very public place. Of course 'e put me in my place. I'm jus'.... 'umiliated." And hurt. Very hurt. But she doesn't add that. "It's my fault, really." Swivel's hand rests on Hyperdrive's shoulder before she pulls it back, mostly to let it just sort of rest uselessly at her side.

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive frowns a little. It might have been more productive if he had someone to go after. He sighs softly, "They're yer friends....And they know you've been through alot and I'm sure if they haven't already fergiven you, they will soon." He reaches out to regather the hand, wincing as the motion and probably the hanging off the bunk a few moments ago have irritated a new repair.

Swivel has posed:
Swivel huffs slightly, but then nods her head. "Yeah..." Sure. They'll forgive her. Hot Rod maybe. If she apologises first. Blurr probably will carry on thinking she's a heartless little glitch a while longer. "I just..." Swivel doesn't pull her hand away, but she does narrow her optics a little at his wincing. "Sorry. You prolly dinna need to 'eroically leap off th'bunk when yer gettin' banged up all the toim." Swivel sighs again. "But yer a tough l'il thing."

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive ducks his head at the little barb at his exploits. He's silent a moment before offering. "I...I just want ta make sure I'm ready. Ta make sure no one else is taken." He frowns. Hopefully no one had realized that the training bots had been set to Quake's specifications. or that the young mech was willing to be THAT stupid.

Swivel has posed:
"Wotever works fer ya..." Swivel says with a sigh. Swivel has never claimed to be a hero, or even wanted to be one. But she won't stop anyone else from having that. Even if it makes her sick with worry. At least, after warning them once or twice not to do anything stupid and stay safe she realises it just gets tedious. Swivel just glances off to the side uncomfortably for a moment. "Exams are comin' up. I wonder wot 'appens if I fail?"

Hyperdrive has posed:
Ah, there was another point that Hyperdrive dreaded. The exams. As Swivel mentions him, there's a frown that he tries to hide with a quick comment, "You get stuck with me fer longer?" And wouldn't that be a horrid thing. But Hyperdrive is clearly not looking foward to the time when he gets left behind.

Swivel has posed:
Swivel shrugs lightly. "Yeah. Maybe. Or maybe I'd just give up and leave in disgrace." THere is a weighted pause. "Givin' up is wot I'm good at." Well. That's not at all reassuring. She then looks over at Hyperdrive, and reaches over, playfully poking at his face. "Dun think that if I pass I'll stop 'angin' around with ya." They just probably won't share a room is all.

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive makes a face. "Yeah but if you give up...I might as well give up. Th-they were the only reason I joined. And now they're gone. So I either stick it out cause I want a chance ta face 'THEM'. or I stick it out cause my only other friend is here too. I'd rather stick around causa you than fer a v-vendetta."

Swivel has posed:
No pressure. Swivel smirks lightly and shrugs again. "Yeah. Feels loik it's my bonds to folk keepin' me 'ere more than answerin' the call to some 'igher purpose. Does that make us petty?" Swivel rubs her cheek, peering just beyond Hyperdrive, across the room at the bunks. "....I almost joined the Decepticons." Well. That's an incredibly awkward thing to admit.

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive is quiet for a time before he speaks, "If they'd have been the ones ta wake me ta this life or were the ones who had saved me and my friends....I mighta been one too. I was even s-sympathetic with them fer a while. But then they attacked. His voice becomes soft with a pain filled edge. "Barreler didn't have a chance. He didn't have a chance to fight....a chance ta live or even a chance ta surrender. He was helpin Tap-out up after he'd over indulged and then crashed ta one side. He was this big soft spoken presense. H-he'd picked himself ta be my protector when I showed up. Tap-out was his other half. Barreler was always havin ta get Tap-out outta trouble. All he'd done is stand up after rightin Tapout and....and" And this was where he would get stuck when he was explaining the story to one of the superior officers or to the bots in charge of mental trauma. He starts and stops a few times before he speaks again. "And his entire chest lit up for a moment like he was one of those leaders in the stories...before it was just gone from the explosion. And he was gone. I....I don't think he suffered. I hope he didn't suffer. He was the one of us that least deserved ta be hurt like that."

Swivel has posed:
Swivel keeps staring off beyond Hyperdrive, but she quietly listens to him open up about his friends. How they looked out for each other. How they stood against odds. How Barreler died almost instantly and she just nods her head. "Sounds loik 'e didn't suffer." She pauses uneasily. She then reaches out and puts a hand on Hyperdrive's shoulder, clasping it reassuringly. "I'm sorry you saw that." Swivel is silent for a moment. "We'll find out wot 'appened to Tap-Out. Some'how. Not knowin' is... it's difficult. My best friend, Backdrop, I still dunno if 'e is dead or alive. 'E joined the Decepticons after I... abandoned 'im. Sometoims I walk through the Decagon and look at all the folk with the badges and wonder... did one of them kill my friend? And there's no justice I kin even get fer 'im. 'E was sweet. Innocent. Then... the things that 'appened that turned 'im so angry..." Swivel shakes her head. "I should 'ave been there for 'im."

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive is forced to pause when Swivel's words sink in. Was that part of why Swivel had been so determined to be there for him. Was that the road he was careening down. He'd been.....he is...so angry still. Only when he's safe in the room did he bother to open up or even talk. The rest of the time he used the anger of his loss to sustain him and get him through. Was he hurting Swivel by holding onto that anger so fiercely. "I-I'm sorry about yer friend."

Swivel has posed:
Swivel just shakes her head. She could not help but see parallels between Hyperdrive and Backdrop. "Yeah... well... there's nothin' I kin do about it. Even if I did learn one of my fellow Autobots killed 'im, and 'oo it was, there's nothin' I kin do but grieve and move on. Anger wouldn't be useful 'ere." Swivel slowly gets to her feet. "There's no sense in takin' anything personal in war." Swivel's optics narrow. "But... attackin' cadets and takin' one fer bloodsport... that goes beyond some war exercise. Nothin' was gained by it. It was unprovoked. I know I pleaded with ya not to be consumed with the need fer vengeance... but there is room fer justice."

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive looks at Swivel with a startled expression. But that startlement is replaced with gratefulness. "Th-that's why I've been trainin so hard. I had ta do somethin and if I was gonna get in trouble fer fightin..then might as well fight my own demons. Then I'd might have a chance....even a slim one of givin them what they deserved and maybe comin back ta ya. I...I don't think I woulda minded as much if we'd been out causin trouble or been out fightin the cons. Or if they'd given us a chance ta even fight..."

Swivel has posed:
Swivel nods, a smile slowly spreading across her face for a moment. She had a feeling that's what Hyperdrive was up to. And why make him feel he can't open up to her about it, by feeling him with fear that she would not understand? Withdraw her support? Reject him? But Swivel's face turns grim again. "Just understand there's a difference between vengeance an' justice, an' I think you'll be foin." Swivel walks over to her bunk and sits on it. "Maybe it's toim I stepped up my game as well. But... one more thing... know wot yer aimin' at. I get the feelin' sometimes, among the Decepticons, the left 'and dunno wot the roight is doin'. This mech that took your friend may 'ave done it with or without sanction from the rest. Know 'oo is the source, and rout them out. BLamin' every Decepticon and losin' yer ability to see 'em as fellow Cybertronians because of a few bad glitches will not only put you in danger, it will... 'urt you 'ere." Swivel places her hand over her chest, which in most cases, is where the spark chamber is found.

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive makes a face, "I've kinda beaten you there.....S-shadowstar was there b-but more as a flunky. It was the big one th-that seemed in control. I got his specs and t-that's whose been b-beatin the slag outta me fer the last few cycles....I-I've got it set fer s-some of his known weaknesses. S-sometimes I last....sometimes I get taken down fast and hard. It hasn't been fun failin constantly. I just hope I'm learnin."

Swivel has posed:
Swivel listens to Hyperdrive explaining his constant losing. SHe brings a hand to her chin. "You're makin' a large tactical error. You keep tryna do it alone."

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive makes a face, "But who in their right mind would even think of tryin ta face someone like that with me. Especially it wasn't a n autobot approved situatio."

Swivel has posed:
Swivel shakes her head. "Sometoims ya gotta be patient with justice. You kinna accomplish this on yer own. But do ya think th'Autobots will let this go unpunished forever?" Swivel holds up a finger. Uh oh. Lecture mode. "Regardless wot the popular idea moight be, we are NOT all created equal. We oughta be treated equal, but we are not all gunna be able to match each other's strengths. There's no shame in bein' weaker." Swivel pauses. "I kin work as 'ard as I want, but I'd never be able ter go as fast as Blurr." She even manages to say his name without wincing. "Nor will I be as strong as Springer. Skill kin go a long way, but some of these mechs got millenia of combat trainin'. Yer not gunna catch up to them on yer own. This isn't the movies." She always had to remind Backrop the difference between stories and reality. "Bidin' yer toim for when ya got the support you need is yer best bet." Swivel sighs. "But... I know... Tap-out moight not 'ave that long. The other more dangerous thing is... well... try 'n lure this mech into a trap 'n use the environment to yer advantage." Sure, offering to stand with him to take down the big bad would seem like the brave, noble, friend thing to do. But Swivel isn't a big damn hero.

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive says, "I've been studyin tapes of him....and I've modified my attack style some. I'm not gonna beat him with superior firepower. But I've always been good at pinpointin weaknesses. If nothin else I can always do that. It might be all I get is a chance ta keep him off guard while others actually so what is needed. But I'm gonna do my best. That's all I can do right?" And there's no condemnation for Swivel not volunteering. He wouldn't want her thaere anyway to get hurt. "Thanks f-fer everythin Swivel...I...I don't know if I'da made it so far without ya."

Swivel has posed:
Swivel's hand, index finger still held up, relaxes a little and her finger curls in. She opens her mouth and then promptly shuts it. Awkwardly, she quickly puts her hands down and stares at her lap for a moment. "I.... uh... yer welcome." It's... good to hear that from someone rather than constant blaming and shaming.

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive smiles awkwardly, "I...I'm too new at the whole bein alive thing l-let alone bein in a war thing and dealin with it all thing. And I've had ta rely on my wits or my skills ta get outta things before this. Or had ta rely on others ta keep me from havin ta use those. I'm pretty sure ya didn't sign up ta be a sitter fer a raw recruit....so all I have ta give ya in return is my friendship...and my thanks."

Swivel has posed:
"Eeeeeh..... I'm not... exactly OLD myself," Swivel says only a little bit defensively. Just a tiny bit. Itty bitty subatomic particle sized bit. "'N I dun think ya signed on to be a sitter fer a psycho. So I'd say we're even." Swivel laughs lightly, although there is little to make light of in her situation. "But I unnerstand relyin' on others 'eavily. Or relyin' on wits. Ya dun survoive places loik the slums of Nyon or Dead End by just bein' cute and innocuous." That is exactly how she survived. Oh. And cannibalism. But she doesn't like talking about that.

Hyperdrive has posed:
Hyperdrive moves to climb up on his bunk and thuds onto his back once there. Yep, the quake simulator errr Quake simulator has been working him over pretty well. "I don't mind watchin you. Its the ones that are supposedly not psychos that wear black and white that are the scary ones."

Swivel has posed:
Seeing Hyperdrive heading up to his bunk, she flops over onto her side. With her configuration, sleeping on her back just isn't an option. "Yeah, 'specially th'ones with chevrons..." Swivel chirps. She curls her knees up and wraps her arms around them, forming a tight ball. Although not as distraught now as she was when she first came in, her mind begins to drift over the fight she had with Blurr and Hot Rod. She's... she's got to do something to make it right. Swivel obsesses over how she can fix this as she continues to convince herself she was completely in the wrong.
