Undergrid Base-9
Date of Scene: 15 March 2019
Location: Undergrid
Synopsis: The Autobots defend a base in the Undergrid.
Cast of Characters: Deadlock, Megatron, Starlock, 130

Hoist (130) has posed:
Maintenance work was an often unglorified but very necessary job to be done. With some parts of the Undergrid still in use, especially when one might want to move things without the prying optics of Decepticon aerial patrols, that also meant there was tunnel upkeep and power system checks to do. Which had been going just fine up until proximity alarms go off. "... Really? Down here?" Even Hoist is a little surprised by that, even as he turns and bolts for one of the defense positions. "Look lively, lass. We've got unwanted company!" He points some turrents in the direction the alarms came from and fires them off.

Starlock has posed:
Starlock is looking around the Undergrid in awe, she had never been down here, so she was seeing it for the first time, taking in all the sights she could, so when Hoist mentions they have decepticon company she curses and follows Hoist to the defenses.

"Scrap! How many? Who did you detect?" She'd call quickly as she deployed her auxiliary tank, and crawling into one of the turret defenses. She'd flip open the panel on her forearm, getting both her and Hoist's vitals on her little screen.

She'd move to take aim, only to let out a strained, soft shriek of horror. "<<Scrap that, I see who it is... Megatron and DEadlock incoming.>>"

Megatron has posed:
"DECEPTICONS!"

Megatron's voice booms across the battlefield. "RISE TO GLORY! Destroy the Autobots!" Then he speaks on Comms. <<Deadlock, target strategic integrity points if you can. We want to cripple them if we cannot destroy them.>>

Then, of course, Megatron gets pinged by Hoist, which does not stop his advance in the slightest, and Starlock's just misses. With a smile, Megatron fires right back! Aiming for the defensive position that pinged him: Hoist's own!

BOOM!

The sound of his cannon rings true.

INCOMING

Deadlock has posed:
Underground is not often somewhere the Autobots expect a big Decepticon assault, which is probably why there isn't much as far as a defense force at the base in the Undergrid just below the Pancontinental Expressway in Tetrahex. At least, at the moment. Deadlock is on the ground already, all guns blazing toward the Autobot defensive line. He dodges some of the artillery fire, doesn't dodge others. A few plates are smoking, but he presses the attack undeterred.

He hears Megatron's message on the comms. << Affirmative sir, searching for vulnerabilities. Scouts are reporting minimal combat-worthy forces on-site, we should have no trouble flushing them out. >>

Starlock has posed:
Starlock takes in a deep vent in a attempt to steel herself, her mask slides into place, and she lays back into the seat of the base, pressing a few buttons to release a round of the drones, targeting the two. She'd glance to her vitals screen when Hoist was struck.

"<<Alright there Hoist? I can patch you up if needed, don't hesitate to say so.>>" She'd also let out a nervous chuckle. "<<Ohhhh this is bad.>>"

Hoist (130) has posed:
Hoist had only pointed the defenses in the direction the alarm came from, he hadn't really looked to see who was setting them off. So when Starlock does and mentions that name, his expression... well if he had the facial features for it, it would blanch a bit. <<I think they've taken offense to our recent advances, if -Megatron- has bothered to come down here>> he comments back. Seeing the Decepticon Commander on the field, regardless if its a great battle or a skirmish like this, was not to be taken lightly.

Especially when that cannon roars, slamming into the defensive bulkheads. The energy blast is enough to throw Hoist backwards into the wall behind him even without getting directly hit, the intense energy starting to sizzle through his armor. "Oh bother," the engineer laments as more gunfire rattles across his position. At least he's a tough bugger, to a degree. Just not a soldier.

As the weapons fire dies down for a moment he pulls himself up and glances out again. <<Indeed. It would seem we've found ourselves in a precariously unprecedented predicament.>> Even Hoist has a little trouble keeping his usual upbeat nature, though he certainly tries. He also notices Deadlock charging the base (thanks to some of those shots hitting him). <<Try to keep them from getting too close!>> It might be a futile effort, but Hoist tries, turning to fire his own rifle at Deadlock while the drones are dispersing.

Megatron has posed:
<<Good, keep up the assault. Make them remember the name.>>

Megatron keeps on a solid approach, as if he knows he's the main target, his smile sadistic. He was HAPPY to break some Autobots. But he doesn't attack at the moment. Nay, he simply lets his presence inspire the decepticons that go into battle!

If there was such a thing.

Deadlock has posed:
Deadlock gets zapped by drones, and before he can really recover, he gets shot from afar by Hoist. "Ugh..." he stumbles backward, but pulls himself back up to his feet when he hears inspiring words from his illustrious leader. If anyone is inspired by Megatron, it's Deadlock. "Ha...that's right." he murmurs to himself in response to the call.

Transforming, he drives toward enemy lines suddenly, weaving in and out of the incoming fire. Somehow, he manages to come up the flank and jump onto the defensive structure where Hoist is standing. "Thought you could wear me down from afar, did you?" he taunts, as he leaps down toward the Autobot and tries to knock him prone, going for the part of his opponent's armor that has already taken some damage.

Starlock has posed:
"<<Oh Completely! Slag>>" Starlock would weakly laugh, and have to take another vent to steady her hands. "<<This uh, may sound silly, but shouldn't we radio back the fact fragging Megatron is here?>>" It was taking a lot for her not panic when she realized what slipped out of her mouth.

"<<Sorry for the language, just a bit terrified outta my mind here, ahahah>>" She'd puff her cheeks under her mask as she saw Deadlock go for Hoist once more, as well as his health readout drops on her monitor, while she felt this was a lost cause, she wasn't exactly willing to give up on trying, she'd huff out as she took aime.

Hoist (130) has posed:
Hoist was going to reply something to Starlock on the radio, but all she'd end up hearing is the sound of Deadlock slamming into the engineer. Bits of green and orange armor scatter from the impact and Hoist is send tumbling backwards yet again, before catching himself against one of the underground supports. "As if being unwanted company wasn't droll enough, you are also being quite rude!" Hoist retorts back. Snazzy quips mid combat isn't really one of his things.

With a grunt he retracts one hand into his arm, and it's replaced with a hammer. Normally used for molding and shaping parts, but lets see what it can possibly do on a properly standing Decepticon as he takes a swing with the heavy tool.

Megatron has posed:
Time for Starlock to learn a lesson.

The lesson: Don't be where Megatron is.

Easy enough, right? Megatron spots Starlock still taking pot shots at him, and it still....doesn't seem to do much to the Leader of the Decepticons. In response, Megatron takes his own shot at Starlock, though this time it's with his energon pistol. Maybe he'll instill some more fear in her too!

The Autobots might be needing to get ready to bring out their dead.

Meantime, he can't help but approve Deadlock's amazing first impression skills when it comes to dealing with the Autobots. Heh. That bot's got spark.

Deadlock has posed:
"Hah, I think we stopped worrying about -manners- a long time ago when the Senate refused to listen to reason and banned anything that didn't agree with them murdering and/mutilating people they didn't like." Deadlock replies wryly.

He smirks with satisfaction as Hoist's armor is cracked and damaged further, but ends up taking a shot in the back from one of those pesky marauder turrets. He swings an arm around and shoots it down from its perch, then sidesteps to avoid the hammer swing. "Ha, that the best you got, scrapheap?" he sneers, bringing out his path blaster in an attempt to give the engineer a faceful of laser.

Starlock has posed:
Starlock hisses out in pain as takes the hit, smoke emitting from her armor where she'd been struck, some of the wiring underneath visible. That was the thing, she was already trembling, and all already terrified, but still, somehow, she managed to give Megatron a defiant glare.

She'd glance down to her monitor readouts, thinking hard about her next choice of attack. "<<Hoist you should take care of those wounds, your getting to a dangerous line.>>" call out over the commlink, her voice starting to grow steadier. "<<...I got you covered.>>"

Hoist (130) has posed:
Hoist doesn't take the laser in the face literally! But by this point he doesn't have a lot of armor left to take it anyways. There's a few sparks as Deadlock's shot hits something more critical as it tears across his shoulder and he groans softly. "Mayhaps," Hoist murmurs.

But instead of swinging again he ducks, juking to the side and lunging for a different part of the structure as Starlock opens fire in Deadlock's direction with the big cannon. He scrambles for a bit of cover, and tries to minimalize the damage done to his shoulder.

Megatron has posed:
Oh? Now she won't pay attention to him?

insultingly pathetic!

Or so Megatron thinks. He aims his canon at her now, though the settings have been toned down, he fires a laser beam straight at the medic! Take down the healer, you take down a prime defensive countermeasure.

Deadlock has posed:
Deadlock is really starting to get worn down now as he gets another blast from the heavy artillery--well, charging the enemy head on like he just did was bound to come at a price.<< Ugh...sir, we don't have much more time--we have to finish them! >>

And then Hoist runs away. "Ha! Coward! Face me like a real soldier should!" he taunts again, and repositions until he can get Hoist back in his line of sight and fir on the engineer again.

Starlock has posed:
Starlock yelps in pain once more, gritting her denta in pain, her leg had been hit, but it doesn't stop her, nope, she does something different. She'd toll out of the turret, and force herself into a run a crossed the defense wall espite the limp and leaking energon, flipping a rude gesture at MEGATRON along the way, as she gets over to Hoist. Quickly she'd get to work repairing the damage to his shoulder.

"<<Once i'm done patching you up, try hitting 'em both hard as you can with the defenses, I think i've very much got Megatron's sights set on me.>>" She'd hiss over her commlink as she finished her work.

Hoist (130) has posed:
Hoist tries to keep down, but in the state he's in even the shrapnel scattered by the blast of Deadlock's shot hitting nearby is enough to dig severely into his systems. Fortunately Starlock comes down to lend a helping hand. "Quite the determined sods they are." He nods a little, making sure she's finished before trying to move again. Then it's a bolt for the nearest terminal, to try and keep the defenses tuned in on the two Decepticons. This was very much not going so well, but be darned if they weren't going to keep trying!

Megatron has posed:
ZOOM!

That's the sound of an autobot assault drone missing the biggest target on the field. "Pathetic." is all Megatron says, but then he replies to Deadlock. <<Escape if you must. But be certain to do damage on your way out. Am I understood soldier? If you can fight, then fight. The Autobots wil lfall.>>

now he aims that fusion cannon at Starlock!

Here comes the pain!

Deadlock has posed:
Somehow, despite the damage to his systems and the fact that he is getting pretty exhausted by now, Deadlock manages to avoid the new wave of drones that Hoist deploys. He pulls back a bit, ducking behind some defensive structures to try to recharge his weapons as much as he can--though it isn't a lot.

Starlock has posed:
Starlock is hit point blank, and she could practically hear her spark in her chassis, for a moment it looks like she's down, but.. nope! She'd slam her hand down on the base and push herself back to her feet. She'd thought for a hot second there she'd be done for but there she is! still standing despite her entire shoulder wiring and mesh being exposed and leaking energon and spilling smoke.

She'd rush over to the current turret Hoist was in and hook her auxiliary tank up to it. "<<Let 'em Rip Hoist!>>"

Hoist (130) has posed:
Hoist cringes as Starlock gets nailed much like he did earlier for her troubles. Only to get back up in spite of it and try to pump more energy into the system like a good hard worker. "Atta girl. Survive this and we'll make an engineer out of you yet." He watchs the meters fill up on the terminal and grabs the controls. <<Well, here goes everything and nothing.>> Something about desperate times call for desperate measures. Hopefully the cannon has better luck than the drones did.... Though in all honesty they're lucky ANYTHING is still standing right now, so. Yeah.

Megatron has posed:
Megatron just narrows his eyes. <<Deadlock, begin your retreat. We have crippled them enough.>>

and even though Megatron half-turns? He's still not done. He turns his head, and lets off one more blast of energy at Starlock!

Then? and only then, does he start to turn around. They will finish off this fortress another day. The Autobots survive...

For now.

Deadlock has posed:
Ugh, it seemed this offensive campaign wasn't as easy as Deadlock had thought it would be. Although he is still wondering how it was that they'd managed to be this sloppy but still barely keep their defenses intact.

At any rate, this push had run out of time and resources. It just wasn't worth expending any more, so it was time to make a tactical retreat. Not that Deadlock won't still pump out as much damage as he can, down to the last few bits of charge left in his weapon.

Starlock has posed:
Starlock looks awful, specially after taking that hit, she'd stumble back looking ready to pass out, but she forces herself forward taking a few heavy steps, vents wheezing. She'd stand there, watching them retreat, blinking quickly before she looked to Hoist in shock.

They... They Won that? Did two Technicians really just... She'd look to Hoist, then down to the retreating Decpticon forces, then back to Hoist. "..Aaaaah?!"

Hoist (130) has posed:
"Starlock!" And of course Hoist does the stupid thing and steps out of his cover when the femme takes another shot from Megatron, and Deadlock nails him in the back. The engineer grunts as he stumbles, smoke and sparks spilling from the wound as he ducks back down again. "Of all the..."

... Then as nothing else happens and there's no defense structure tumbling down on top of them he dares to peak back out at the Decepticons backing off. "... They had us dead to rights." Somehow this is less reassuring. Because it probably means the Decepticons are up to something.

But more importantly they're both in really bad condition. "... I guess best to count our blessings."

Starlock has posed:
"C..Can z-zzay zthat again" She'd voice out of her voice box. "T-This izt going to be one hell of a r-report." She'd add, looking back out.

She'd fall to her knees, tired, her wounds were definitely taking a toll on her, she'd let out a pained pant as she tended to at least some of the minor ones.

Hoist (130) has posed:
Hoist really is not a warrior. So he's not going to knock it. Just wonder what the hell just happened. "Well... at least there is one job I can still do right." He transforms, a bit more slowly than normal due to his own damages, and lowers his tow rig towards Starlock. "Climb on... I've got enough left in me... to at least get us back to Iacon."

Starlock has posed:
Starlock gave a weak chuckle, using her right arm, the undamaged one, to pull herself up into it. "Alright.. I won't argue with this." She'd huff, closing her optics, struggling not to fall into recharge... But man, did she feel so much more at ease, despite still trembling.
